Price: $39,000 Negotiable

This 1964 Pontiac GTO hardtop is said to have undergone refurbishment circa 2012 and has been refinished in black over blue vinyl with power supplied by a replacement 455ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment consists of Tri-Power carburetion, an electronic ignition, power steering, power front disc brakes, long-tube headers, Flowmaster mufflers, a limited-slip differential, and an Edelbrock rear sway bar. The fluids reportedly were serviced subsequent to the selling dealer’s acquisition of the car in April 2021. This GTO is now offered with an owner’s manual, a copy of an October 1963 Pontiac press release introducing the GTO, and transferable New York registration.

The car was refinished in black during previous ownership. Chrome bumpers, wheel-arch trim, and rocker-panel moldings complement a pair of nonfunctional hood scoops and quad chrome exhaust tips exiting in pairs on either side of the car just behind the rear wheels.

Chrome-finished 15″ slotted wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich T/A Radial tires. Power front disc brakes have been fitted along with an Edelbrock sway bar at the rear.

The cabin has been reupholstered in blue vinyl with a matching dashboard and door panels and black carpeting protected by blue rubber mats. Features include a heater/defroster, a center console, a radio-delete plate, and front lap belts.

The woodgrain steering wheel fronts a machine-turned panel with instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline flanked by fuel-level, engine-temperature, and oil-pressure gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, approximately 15 of which were added by the selling dealer; true mileage is unknown.

The 455ci V8—which replaces the stock 389—is configured for Tri-Power carburetion consisting of three two-barrel Rochesters, and an electronic ignition has been added. The fluids are said to have been changed in preparation for the sale.

Gases exit via long-tube headers flowing into a dual exhaust system equipped with an H-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Hurst-shifted four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential with a 3.90:1 final gear ratio.
