1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 PrivateCars - Danvers - 9 views
This 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 is finished in Guards Red over a Russet leatherette interior and was reportedly purchased new by a Danish diplomat before being imported to the US in 2001. The car is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and was acquired by the seller five years ago. An engine rebuild was performed in 2015, and recent service is said to have included an oil change and general inspection. This Carrera 3.0 is now offered with records, a factory service booklet, owner’s manual, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a tool roll, spare parts, and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Guards Red (G8) and features silver window trim, slim rear bumper guards, and a front spoiler. The 3.0 Carrera featured wider rear fenders than the standard 911 of the time, and this example is not equipped with a sunroof. Multiple paint blemishes are shows in the gallery, and the seller notes areas of rust including the front fenders, the right side rocker panel, and the front trunk. Replacement rocker panel sheetmetal is included, along with a whale-tail rear spoiler that was removed under previous ownership.
15″ Fuchs alloy wheels wear Bridgestone Potenza RE760 tires sized 205/55 in front and 225/50 in the rear, showing 2013 date codes. Bilstein shocks were standard on the Carrera 3.0.
The cockpit features Russet leatherette upholstery covering the seats, side and rear panels, and dashboard, along with matching carpets and black trim. Other equipment includes power windows, a rear window defroster, and a heater that utilizes two thermostats and a rotary controller. The car was optioned with air conditioning when new, though many of the components have since been removed. A Blaupunkt Portland SQR-26 stereo is fitted, and the seller notes cracks in the dashboard and a broken leather strap on one of the rear seats.
VDO instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a centrally-mounted tachometer showing a 6,600-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows just over 42k miles, though the true milage is unknown. The seller estimates he has added approximately 13k miles over the past five years.
The 2,994cc 930/02 flat-six was rated at 200 horsepower when new and was rebuilt by Exotech of New Hampshire in 2015. Features include Bosch K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection, an 8.5:1 compression ratio, and an aluminum crank case. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. An August 2019 service is said to have included an oil change.
The engine case is stamped with *6660069* which corresponds with the number listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
