1965 Jaguar XKE Roadster Project PrivateCars - Littleton - 25 views
This 1965 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Roadster was acquired from the previous owner’s estate in Nevada, where it was stored in an outbuilding for the last two decades. Originally finished in Opalscenent green, it received a respray in black sometime around the mid-1990’s and has been described by the seller as a largely complete non-running project that retains its number-matching 4.2-liter inline-six and four-speed manual gearbox. This E-Type is now being offered with a clear Colorado title.
The seller describes the refinished body as straight and true, and plenty of oxidation and debris is present from two decades of storage, although the outbuilding is reported to have been climate controlled. The bonnet is reportedly solid with straight seams, and without any evidence of previous repair work. All of the glass, including the Triplex headlight covers show to be well preserved, without any cracks or delamination visible. Cracks are present in the front turn signal lenses.
The dash instruments and controls show to be largely intact and complete. 75,542 miles are shown on the odometer, which is believed accurate.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was introduced in 1964 and developed roughly the same horsepower as the 3.8-liter. This example was reportedly last roadworthy sometime around the mid-1990’s and the engine compartment shows to be largely intact and the seller has confirmed that the numbers-matching inline-six turns over.
The provided body plate lists the engine block number as 7E3522-9.
A picture of stamping 7E3522-9 can be seen above, confirming the head as original and a picture of the stamping on the block may be seen in the gallery below.
The brake system is inoperable, and the seller indicates that one of the tires has a slow leak. Multiple undercarriage shots and images of where the vehicle was previously stored may be seen in the gallery below. In-person inspections are welcomed prior the auctions close.
