1965 Factory Five Racing Cobra PrivateCars - Beaverton - 49 views
This Factory Five Racing Cobra was built by the seller 3 years and has covered approximately 800 miles since it was completed. It was purchased as a new unpackaged kit and upgrades from Factory Five include a powder coated frame and 3-link rear suspension. Finished in a green metallic color, this example is equipped with a Mustang driveline, four-wheel disc brakes, and Koni front shocks. The interior has been trimmed in black vinyl with matching carpets and is equipped with 4-point harnesses and a Kickr stereo. The freshly-built 347ci Ford V8 features Edelbrock heads, a 4-barrel carburetor, and side-exit exhaust. This Cobra replica is titled as a 1965 and is now being offered with a build file, four new Goodyear Eagle Billboard tires, and a clean Oregon replica title.
Finished in a metallic green with white stripes, the car features both front and rear bumperettes. The windshield is lightly tinted, and a safety hoop is present for the driver. A set of plexiglass wing-windows and sun-visors are installed.
The side-pipes are finished in matte-black, and Factory Five Halibrand-style wheels measure 8″ in width up front and 10″ out back. The seller reports that the Goodyear Eagle tires have about 800 miles, but produce a vibration at speed due to flat spots, and a full set of matching replacements are included.
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with matching carpets, while four-point harnesses keep the driver and passenger secure in the low back bucket seats. A battery cut-off is mounted between the seats, and an extinguisher has been secured under the dash. A Kickr amplifier with an auxiliary input has been installed, and speakers are mounted behind the seats. A heater has been installed under the dash and gauges are from Autometer. Less than 900 miles are shown. Some finish work needs to be completed, this includes finalizing the seat, installing mounts for a fifth harness point if desired, and installation of door pockets.
The 347ci Ford V8 is based on a 302, with a 4.030″ bore and a 3.40″ stroke. It utilizes a set of Edelbrock Victor Jr. aluminum cylinder heads, Summit Racing manifold, 650 CFM Edelbrock carburetor, MSD Pro-Billet distributor, Harland Sharp 1.7:1 rockers, and a pair of Factory Five Racing ceramic-coated tubular headers. 500+ horsepower is estimated by the seller. Cooling is handled with an AFCO aluminum radiator with custom stainless plumbing, and an electric fan. The seller has run the motor with a Joe Gibbs racing oil, and a 500-mile break-in service has been performed.
The seller ordered the kit from Factory Five Racing with a fully powder coated frame and an upgraded 3-link rear suspension. The T-5 manual gearbox and solid rear-axle were sourced from a Mustang. Koni coilovers are used up front along with rack and pinion steering. Braking is handled with four-wheel discs, and the seller indicates that the parking brake needs to be modified. An appraisal from 2016 is included in the gallery.
