1964 Buick Riviera PrivateCars - Columbus - 4 views
This 1964 Buick Riviera is finished in black over black vinyl and equipped with power steering, brakes, and windows along with a four-way power-adjustable driver seat and a retro-look stereo. Power is supplied by a replacement 425ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission, and service under current ownership included replacement of the starter and valve-cover gaskets along with setting the timing. The car was previously listed on BaT in May 2020 and subsequently acquired by the seller, who relocated it from Washington to Ohio. This Riviera is now offered with records going back to 2015, spare parts and memorabilia, repair manuals, removed factory parts, a car cover, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The car was factory finished in Arctic White and was refinished in black under previous ownership. Equipment consists of chrome bumpers, rocker moldings, and faux side-vent surrounds as well as a remote-adjustable driver-side mirror and a refurbished power antenna. The seller notes that the protective coating on the lower body is peeling on a panel adjacent to the driver-side door, and other blemishes include paint touch-ups, a scratch on the hood, and another on the rear window.
Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome wire covers and Coker American Classic whitewall tires showing 2015 date codes. The car rides on Bilstein Classic shocks with springs sourced from Coil Spring Specialties that drop the ride height 1″ from stock. The wheel bearings and suspension bushings are said to have been replaced under previous ownership.
The interior is upholstered in black vinyl with matching door panels and carpeting. Woodgrain and aluminum trim accent the dashboard, door panels, and center console. Amenities include a four-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, lap belts, armrests equipped with a second set of release handles for rear-seat passengers, and a RetroSound stereo with updated speakers. Air conditioning equipment is present but the system does not blow cold air.
An aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts LED-lit instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, an electric clock, and a five-digit odometer showing 91k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller; true mileage is unknown. The seller states the factory steering wheel is included in the sale.
The replacement 425ci V8 is fitted with Buick-branded finned valve covers, a Wildcat 465 air cleaner cover, a PerTronix electronic ignition, and dual exhausts. The starter and the valve-cover gaskets were replaced and the timing was reset in November 2020, and the voltage regulator, starter solenoid, fan clutch, and fuel line were replaced under previous ownership. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a console-shifted Super Turbine 400 three-speed automatic transmission.
